I can still recall the exhilaration when kaun banga crorepati (the Indian version of who wants to be a Millionaire) aired during its first season with its legendary host Amitabh Bachchan as the charismatic quizmaster, when the audience sat captivated on the edge of their seats, in silent anticipation of an answer from the fateful individual who sat in the hot seat. As an audience, we were allowed to dream what we would do if we were sitting in that chair under those dazzling lights. Our imagination offered us free reins to the possibility that, even with our limited Knowledge and experience, there was a still a slight chance that we could strike the jackpot. It's no surprise, than, that Slumdog Millionaire is able to use that game show to generate some engrossing drama of its own.
